Frequently Asked Questions to OsoChic

⭐️  Is a Ragdoll cat right for me?  -  If you want a large cat that is non-agressive, loves to be with you everywhere in the house, & is placid, you may wish to consider a Ragdoll. Also, if you love the look of a semi-longhaired cat but don't want the constant grooming that say a Persian cat demands, a Ragdoll would be a good choice. The gentle Ragdoll kitten is also good with children & is easy to introduce into a multi pet house hold. Our pedigree Ragdoll kittens grow up under foot in our home and are very well socialised.

⭐️ What are the characteristics of a 'pedigree' Ragdoll cat?   -  Ragdolls are by nature relaxed, loving & docile. They love to have their tummies rubbed & sleep lying next to you. Ragdolls are very responsive & intelligent. They enjoy being with people & other pets as they are very social. Many can learn tricks of retrieve & fetch just like a dog! Youngsters tend to have a zoomy hour in the evening, whereby they are an amazing source of entertainment.

⭐️ When are the kittens old enough to leave for their new home? - A week after their second Kitten vaccinations, about 13 weeks.

⭐️ Are all Ragdoll cats placid & docile?  -   No, if they are brought up in a pen outdoors or where they haven't had much human contact, then these kits can be skittish, timid & shy. Never underestimate the start of your kitten's life! The first 13 weeks shape the kitten's life for the future. Also, we ensure our kittens are loving but this needs to be nurtured going forward by their new owners!

⭐️  Are Ragdoll cats vocal? - They do not chat loudly like Siamese but make a  'chirrup' sound when communicating with you.

⭐️ Do all Ragdoll cats have blue eyes?  - Yes.

⭐️ Do Ragdoll cats get along with other animals?  - Yes, usually very well actually. As long as introduced properly & gradually. They usually become great buddies as Ragdolls really appreciate having a play mate whether that is another cat or a friendly, respectful pooch.

⭐️ If the house is empty most days would a Ragdoll cat be lonely? - Yes, unless you have another suitable animal as a companion. They would become lonely without company, which may cause psychological problems or undesirable habits; this is when folk reserve 2 siblings from us.

⭐️ Are Ragdoll cats indoor cats?  - Yes,   Ragdolls have no fear factor! So can be run over (which is often the case), or stolen (which is on the increase). They will happily adopt any stranger that approaches them, so could be easily kit-napped. They can be picked on by outdoor cats too as they're not aggressive.

⭐️ Can I breed from a OsoChic Ragdoll kitten?  -  No. We don't sell kittens endorsed to breed in the UK.

⭐️ Can I 'show' a OsoChic Ragdoll 'Show Quality' Kitten?  -  Yes of course, we would be delighted if you did.  Showing can be very satisfying, however, there is a difference between pet quality & show quality kittens, so please let us know this is your intention & we will select a suitable kitty for the show bench for you; ensuring it meets the 'GCCF standard of points' as not all kittens qualify as 'show quality'.

⭐️ When visiting can we see the kitten's Mum?  -  Yes.

⭐️ Are OsoChic Ragdoll adult cats health tested?  -  Yes.

⭐️ What is the life expectancy of a Ragdoll cat?  - Approximately 15 years if cared for correctly.

⭐️ Will I have to provide a litter tray?  -  Yes, you'll need at least 2, & keep them regularly cleaned (daily) to avoid accidents & illnesses.

⭐️ How much grooming do Ragdoll cats need?   -  Once a week is great.  They do get a 'winter coat' so will shed in Spring.

⭐️ Do Ragdolls scratch furniture?  -  All cats have the potential to do this, this is why you need to provide a scratch post & why we train ours to use one before they leave us. It's important they can shed the sheath over their nails on occasion & a post enables this.

⭐️ How do I join the waiting list for an OsoChic kitten?   -  See our CONTACT & Application page.

⭐️ When do I pay my deposit?  -  A £100 deposit 'after' viewing kitten, (Covid19 & distance permitting).

⭐️ When do I pay the balance?  -  A bank transfer the day before collection, or cash on collection day, or, via an app on your mobile.

⭐️ Will OsoChic Ragdolls' Kittens be registered?   -  Yes, on the GCCF non-active register.

⭐️  Will OsoChic Ragdolls' Kittens be fully vaccinated? - Absolutely, & parasite protected & microchipped, before leaving us.
